Tomcat has a single license whereas GlassFish has dual license.

Please tell me that I have gotten this totally wrong and give me a description of how war deployment and file editing in an exploded directory is supported in the JBoss application server. As mentioned before, they are both open source and free but with different licenses. This sounds very strange to me since JBoss (all respect to Tomcat) is a much greater product than Tomcat. You either always deploy a war file or you copy the exploded directory to the deploy folder. I googled this and it looks like you will have to make a choice with JBoss. It is also the difference between a successful application that is widely. GlassFish Apache Tomcat Java EE application Open source Java. In the mean time there will be regular refreshes. I would expect to see an exploded directory outside of the work directory, maybe even as a subdirectory to the deploy folder. 2.1 application on two different web containers (GlassFish and Tomcat). GlassFish v3 is scheduled to be aligned with Java EE 6 and released mid-2009. But no exploded folder is created except for the one in the work directory. If I create a war file and put it in server/default/deploy, restart the server it will be deployed. Again Tomcat is the victor, this time by a larger margin of around 7 for response time, elapsed time and transaction rate. Very nice and I worked like this during the last four years. Generally Tomcat seems to be about 3 faster than GlassFish except for in the area of concurrency where the difference was only 1.45. If I want to make a new fully redeployment from a new war file I simply delete the directory (maybe clear the works folder) and restart the server. If I then want to edit or replace any part of my webapp I simply edit/overwrite the jsp's, lib's or js files in the unpacked web application directory under webapps. My experience from Tomcat is that you can build a war-file, put it in the webapps directory and it will either unpack it in the webapps dir directly (hot deployment) or do it after a restart of the server. In the same way that Glassfish is a larger, more feature-rich server than Tomcat, Tomcat, though fairly lightweight, is larger and more feature-rich than Jetty. Apache Tomcat powers numerous large-scale.

On the other hand, Apache Tomcat is detailed as ' An open source software implementation of the Java Servlet and JavaServer Pages technologies '. I'v primarly worked with Tomcat before and would be very greatful if anybody could clarify how the War file and exploded war works in JBoss since I'm a bit confused regarding this at the moment. Payara Server is a drop in replacement for GlassFish Server Open Source Edition with quarterly releases containing enhancements, bug fixes and patches. Both are popular choices in the market let us discuss some of the major difference: Oracle Weblogic Server has different features such as transaction management, message queues, database connection handling and many other features, whereas Apache Tomcat Server has a lightweight, open-source, flexible, stable, servlet, JSP, embedding applications. I'm totally new to the JBoss community and the JBoss AS. key Difference Between Weblogic and Tomcat.
